I really dig Hulu. I don’t own a television because I’m a bad-TV addict and would spend every waking hour watching Roseanne reruns if left to my own devices. However, sometimes I just want to zone out, and Hulu’s more than enabled me in this pursuit.
I was one of the first 100 Hulu users. I should be thanking them for being able to say that, but they wanted to say thanks and sent me this very comfy t-shirt:

(If you’re ever printing t-shirts, gray is a great color. Also, you should get them from A.J., who not only gives great deals, but also has amazing taste—he’s responsible for the ridiculously comfy Seattle Startup Weekend 2 shirts. Ping me for his contact info.)
Thanks for the shirt, Hulu!
Onto the fail. At least a quarter of the time I’m watching a video on Hulu, in lieu of an ad I see this message (click to enlarge):
Who in their right mind would disable an ad blocker so they could watch an ad? That’s just an odd request, Hulu. Additionally, I have no special ad-blocking software installed; I’m assuming the error message is because of Safari’s default pop-up-blocking behavior.

Oddly enough I am not a Hulu fan, I know everyone always tells me how amazing the site is but I feel like I can never find what I am looking for. I always use OVGuide to find videos online, I feel like they have way more options then Hulu does.
I <3 Hulu.
Do you get this problem in Firefox? I’ve never seen it before.
It’s non-specific network congestion (most likely) and still happens from time to time:

I found this site by typing in “Hulu, I knew before you” in Google. You’re the only other person to come forward with the shirt. Did you get the signed letter too? The shiny print is so pritty! (sic, and sick, but I had to do it)
When I used Firefox I would get the message you mention all the time because I used the adblock plugin with it. I’ve moved onto Chrome without plugins for speed reasons and no longer see the message. My girlfriend would get it too on her Mac without running adblock, and I think it’s due to some firewall because she has no plugins for Firefox or Safari either, and it happens on both.
Personally I don’t mind the ads. I feel like I should be giving something back for the free service they provide.
You hopping in on their IPO?
